Plan Around the Best Season
1 | Visit Gatlinburg in the Fall | Fall foliage in Gatlinburg is absolutely breathtaking, and the months of October and November offer the perfect temperatures for exploring—ranging from the crisp 50s to comfortable high 60s.
Some of the best spots to take in the vibrant autumn colors include Newfound Gap Road, which provides sweeping mountain views, the iconic Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the scenic vistas at Anakeesta, a family-friendly outdoor adventure park. Each location offers a unique perspective of Gatlinburg’s fall beauty, making them must-visit spots during the season.
| Newfound Gap Road | For stunning fall scenic views, take a drive along Newfound Gap Road, a 31-mile mountain pass that connects Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to Cherokee, North Carolina. This picturesque route takes you through the lowest drivable point in the Great Smoky Mountains, offering breathtaking vistas of the vibrant autumn foliage.
Newfound Gap Road also holds a special place in Tennessee history—it’s where President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the Rockefeller Memorial, a site that commemorates the park's establishment and significance.
