10 Vacations That Are Better Than The Metaverse
10 Vacations That Are Better Than The Metaverse
When you think of vacations, your mind might go to different types of trips, such as educational vacations or even cheap Florida vacations. But the modern world has begun challenging our notions of what a vacation could be.
With recent developments in technology, the term Metaverse has been thrown out to describe almost everything that has to do with a fully immersive virtual world. From worlds like Roblox and Fortnite to social media platforms like Facebook changing their entire platform to reflect the shift toward a liveable digital world, the Metaverse has grasped the popular consciousness in a way only a viral trend can do.
But does it really stack up to a real-life vacation? With dozens of attractions and entertainment activities in Orlando, Florida, it’s doubtful that the Metaverse’s current capabilities will be able to stack up.
Metaverse Meaning
To those unaware of what the Metaverse is, it’s essentially a loose collection of digital worlds that are meant to describe a virtual experience. People can join a Metaverse by a variety of means and through different platforms, but one of the main ways to do so is through VR, or virtual reality systems.
Through virtual reality, the simulation of real-world environments, as well as fantastical environments, are done in the Metaverse. But these experiences are primarily experienced through sight and sound alone, and many of the different senses we use in real-life are cut out. As such, we’ve collated 10 different vacations that beat the experience currently offered by the Metaverse.
1 | Visiting Westgate Resorts | One of the first things you can do in real life versus the Metaverse is actually touch, smell and truly experience what a real resort can give you. With the Metaverse, you’re likely going to be taken to different lands and environments that promise to excite, but deep down you know it’s a virtual experience that goes as quickly as it comes. At Westgate, you can see the difference that true service and human interaction can make on the experience. You can even share adventures with family and friends through Westgate family vacations, like staying at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa, near Universal and Disney World.

2 | Going To Disney World | Speaking of fun for everyone, staying at Westgate Resorts gives you access to The Most Magical Place on Earth: Disney World. The Metaverse can likely transport you to places far beyond your imagination, but some of the magic that occurs from visiting Disney comes from the realization that those around you have worked and are committed to building up the image and atmosphere that makes the magical place so wonderous. Ride atop Space Mountain, hang out with Stormtroopers and Jedi knights, plus see some of Disney’s world-famous movies in real life at Disney parks.
WHERE: 1180 Seven Seas Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 | WHO: (407) 824-4321
3 | Exploring Universal Orlando | Even non-Disney fans can enjoy the magic of seeing your favorite movies come to life. Metaverse concepts are usually locked to a singular theme to maintain design without overloading their virtual worlds. At Universal Orlando, you can find all of your favorite films brought to life in one place. From Transformers to Harry Potter, you can experience how limitless real life can be at this famous amusement park.
WHERE: 6000 Universal Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819 | WHO: 407-363-8000
4 | Visiting The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art | Sometimes you want your vacation tinged with a little sophistication and a spot of education. For those of you looking for this, we highly recommend the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. The Metaverse, sadly, doesn’t have much access to contemporary and historical art pieces due to its relatively new state of development. But art can unlock so much when it comes to a proper vacation, and at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, you can see how great artists, current and past have helped shape the cultural identity of our country.
WHERE: 445 N Park Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789 | WHO: 407-645-5311
5 | Watch a Production at Orlando Shakespear Theater | Not all art needs to be done via paint and sculpture. Some of the most defining moments in the arts are done through live performances and connections with the audiences made only possible through actors bearing their art to you. Orlando’s Shakespeare Theater has more than your fair share of classics and family theater that can get you inspired the only way art can.
WHERE: 812 E Rollins St, Orlando, FL 32803 | WHO: 407-447-1700
6 | Walking Through Legoland Florida | While we’ve talked about the different famous amusement parks, we can’t go through the list without mentioning Legoland. It’s a truly special place that offers the tactile fun of playing with Legos while allowing you to walk through some of their most legendary creations. With the recent successes of The Lego Movie and Lego Batman, this colorful spot can be a great place to visit with family and friends, both young and old.
WHERE: 1 Legoland Way, Winter Haven, FL 33884 | WHO: 888-690-5346
7 | Diving Into SeaWorld | Some of you reading this might be more into nature as a draw for the excitement that only real life can give you. For you, we highly suggest visiting Orlando’s SeaWorld as they work through your curiosity with their collection of conservation efforts and talented marine animals. Come on and celebrate the wonders of natural life by seeing how these animals interact with one another on a real scale; something that can’t be fully imitated by programmed digital avatars in the Metaverse.
WHERE: 7007 Sea World Dr, Orlando, FL 32821 | WHO: 407-545-5550
8 | Visit Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures | If you’re still looking for adventure despite already seeing all of the different animals in SeaWorld, or if you’re looking for something more in the wild, then we recommend hitting up Boggy Creek Airboat as they show you around Florida’s marshes via an airboat. You’ll likely spot birds and alligators, animals that are better seen up-close than through a VR headset.
WHERE: 2001 E Southport Rd, Kissimmee, FL 34746 | WHO: 407-344-9550
9 | Checking Out The Museum of Illusions | For something a bit more casual on your vacation, we suggest visiting Orlando’s Museum of Illusions. The interesting part about the effects done here is that you can instantly see what makes each illusion work from a reality standpoint. Digital art can freely distort visuals as their medium isn’t limited to physical laws, but real-life illusions are constrained by reality, which makes them a bit more magical in an odd way.
WHERE: 8441 International Dr Suite #250, Orlando, FL 32819 | WHO: 833-541-0992
10 | Seeing Ripley’s Believe It or Not! | Last on our list is a classic that made waves on TV for several years before setting up its own outposts around different cities. The Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum is a fantastic spot to visit for those a bit nostalgic for the 2000s and who might be interested in seeing how the brand maintains its iconic combination of shock and wonder. At Ripley’s, you can see a whole gallery of past wonders that have made it to TV and immortalized with their own exhibit. This is what makes the Metaverse just not as exciting as real-life attractions. Those of us looking for a blast from the past in a real and authentic way can enjoy the attractions and oddities at Ripley’s.
