Westgate Resorts Foundation Letter from Mayor Dyer

June 13, 2012 Back to articles

In addition to supporting charities, Westgate Resorts and the Westgate Resorts Foundation have installed a hospitality-wide initiative to help fight homelessness in Central Florida. In conjunction with our partners in the hospitality industry, property management companies and local and state government agencies, Hospitality Helps has begun to affect the lives of several homeless families here in Central Florida.

Following is a letter sent from Mayor Buddy Dyer to Westgate Resorts Foundation.

Dear David:

I was thrilled to receive your letter of June 8, 2012 pledging $150,000 from the Westgate Resorts Foundation as a matching challenge grant for the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness. As you have indicated, the grant will be used to encourage other business leaders in our community to make similar commitments to fund the Commission's work to find solutions for this complex issue.

Your willingness to publicly support the continuation of a re-organized and re-invigorated Commission is critical to its success. The work of your Hospitality Helps program in housing and employing homeless families is tremendous and serves as a model for other businesses both here and across the nation.

Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for our community and for making such a significant matching gift to this most worth cause.

Warm regards,

Buddy Dyer
Mayor, City of Orlando
